Calidore String Quartet on April 4, plus Nazareth students shine in Dance Concert and Art Exhibitions
The Arts Center鈥檚 touring series of performances continues with the internationally acclaimed Calidore String Quartet at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 4 in the Glazer Music Performance Center, performing Beethoven鈥檚 Op. 130 in B-flat Major, along with works by Schubert, Webern, and Bart贸k. Also upcoming is the Nazareth Theatre and Dance Department鈥檚 annual Spring Dance Concert on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, and the Art and Design Department鈥檚 annual Student Art Shows opening on Friday, March 27.

The Calidore String Quartet has been praised by The New York Times for its 鈥渄eep reserves of virtuosity and irrepressible dramatic instinct.鈥澨� The internationally acclaimed quartet 鈥� Jeffrey Myers, violin; Ryan Meehan, violin; Jeremy Berry, viola; and Estelle Choi, cello 鈥� will perform one of Beethoven鈥檚 final string quartets on Saturday, April 4 at 8 p.m. along with works by Schubert, Webern, and Bart贸k.
The New York-based quartet has won the most prestigious honors for chamber music, including the M-Prize, and accolades for performances at top global venues (Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, BBC Proms, and Berlin Konzerthaus) as one of the finest chamber music ensembles performing today. NAZARETH SPRING DANCE CONCERT 鈥淐OALESCE鈥�

From dance inspired by the late Ram Dass to work created by world-renowned choreographer Ronen Koresh, Nazareth鈥檚 annual Spring Dance Concert will showcase captivating dance by established and emerging artists. The Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department will present Coalesce at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28 in Callahan Theater, located on the campus of Nazareth College at 4245 East Avenue, Rochester, 14618. Tickets $10 general admission, $8 seniors
Coalesce represents the fusion of different themes and ideas growing together in one concert. The concert showcases unique perspectives on adverse topics ranging from complex human relationships to patterns occurring in nature.听Audiences can expect to see exciting and expansive movement, intriguing costume and set designs, and diverse dance styles in this year's concert.听
The Spring Dance Concert will feature original works by student choreographers alongside works by established artists, including 鈥淲et Stones Full of Light鈥� by Ronen Koresh, whose company performed at the Arts Center in February. Last October, Koresh Dance Company participated in a week-long residency at Nazareth College and taught the piece to Nazareth dancers.
Coalesce also features a premiere of a new work by guest artist Caitlin Mahon, as well as faculty work by Mariko Yamada and Heather Acomb. Acombs鈥� piece, 鈥淪ub Ek鈥� is inspired by the teachings of the late Ram Dass. In addition, six student choreographers were chosen to premiere their works:听 Tazdyn Francisco (dance, 鈥�21), Maria Rodriguez (dance, 鈥�20), Amya Brice (dance,鈥�21), Ariel Wiegrand (dance, 鈥�20), Caz Lopata-Linn (dance, 鈥�20), and Linnae Corgan (dance, 鈥�20).听 听

The Nazareth College Art and Design Department is pleased to present the annual student art shows. These exhibitions represent a variety of styles and media, ceramics, drawing, graphic design, illustration, jewelry and metalsmithing, painting, photography, printmaking, typography, and video/new media. The exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public. Some pieces will be available for purchase.
